The Yolanda Jackson Foundation was established to honor the memory of Yolanda Jenise Jackson, born on August 24, 1993, and tragically taken from us on April 2, 2024. Yolanda was a compassionate and selfless individual, deeply devoted to her community and her dreams.

A proud graduate of I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, Yolanda excelled both academically and athletically, representing her school on the basketball court while wearing the number 5 jersey—a tradition she shared with her mother, Debbie. Despite financial challenges, she postponed college to work and support her aspirations for higher education.

Yolanda built a successful career at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, starting as a private contractor in 2017 before earning a coveted Department of Defense position. Beyond her professional achievements, she was a beacon of kindness, often babysitting for families in need. She had a special bond with a child named Sevyn, whom she loved like her own. Her care extended to animals as well, with a dream of becoming a veterinarian fueled by her love for her pets, Drako and Lexi.

Affectionately known as Nook, Nook-Nook, and Bones, Yolanda was celebrated for her generosity and unwavering dedication to others. She always prioritized helping those around her, giving selflessly of her time and resources. Her life was tragically cut short when she became an innocent victim of gang violence, leaving an indelible void in the hearts of her family and community.

The foundation continues Yolanda’s legacy by creating opportunities for children of all backgrounds to thrive in knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Through its work, Yolanda’s spirit of love, kindness, and service lives on, inspiring future generations to build a brighter, safer world in her memory.
